Elly De La Cruz is getting talked about because he's cheap, fast, awkward to pitch to, and easy to grab if you're sitting on a few MLB The Show 26 stubs instead of ripping packs for luck.

Why the Live Series card is useful but not scary
The Live Series Elly card sits at 83 overall Gold, and that matters. You're not buying some endgame shortstop here. You're buying a switch-hitter with weird tools. Shortstop primary, Reds card, right-handed thrower, big frame, and enough pop to punish lazy pitches. The useful split is against righties, with 75 Contact R and 70 Power R showing better than his lefty-side numbers. Still, that 46 Vision is the bit you feel online. On higher difficulty, the PCI gets mean fast, and Elly won't bail out sloppy swings.
  • Buy him straight from the Marketplace if his price stays near the low Gold range.
  • Use earned Live Series packs, but don't chase one Gold card with paid packs.
  • Check his current attributes after roster updates, because old speed claims are already messy.

Where he actually fits in a lineup

Most players will get more from Elly by stopping the hero-ball stuff. Don't force him into the three-hole like he's your main run producer. He's better as a pressure piece. Lead him off if you like stealing early and making people slide-step. Bat him ninth if your top of the order has contact bats that can drive him in. His 99 Steal is the big hook, not some confirmed 99 Speed number. The cleaner database read says 85 Speed and 99 Steal, so yeah, separate those two in your head.
  • Leadoff works when you want pressure, steals, and switch-hitting balance before your best bats appear.
  • Ninth works if you treat him like a second leadoff man turning the order over.
  • Bench runner works once your roster has a better shortstop with cleaner contact and defense.
Reality check: If you can't place the PCI, Elly's switch-hitting won't magically fix the at-bat.

Defense, boosts, and the little traps people miss
The arm is the fun part. A 92 Arm Strength rating lets him make throws from spots where slower shortstops just eat the ball. But then you notice 44 Arm Accuracy, and suddenly every rushed throw feels a bit spicy. If you use button accuracy, you'll need to be awake. Captain boosts help more on offense. Paul O'Neill's Reds boost is the one that matters for Elly, adding contact and power to both sides when the full level is active. Nice bump, sure, but it doesn't touch Vision or arm accuracy.
  • Don't value Rally Monkey like a measured boost, because the exact attribute gain isn't confirmed.
  • Don't confuse the 83 Live Series card with any rumored free 94 overall version.
  • Don't flip him for tiny margins unless the tax-adjusted spread actually opens up.

Best way to treat this card

Use Elly as a budget weapon, not a miracle cure. If the price is still sensible, the MLB The Show 26 marketplace is the clean route, while packs are mostly noise unless they're earned or helping collections anyway.
